About The British Shorthair Breed
The British Shorthair was nearly wiped off the map after the World Wars of the 20th century but they have since made a comeback. The quintessential English cat, large, calm, confident and mild-mannered. All cat associations recognise the breed however this was only the case from 1980s.

British Shorthairs usually weigh-in at between 4 and 8kg.

The British Shorthair is a cool, calm character – mild mannered and unflappable. Does not crave attention like some other breeds and is very measured in his approaches for affection. The British Shorthair does not like to be picked up but will love sitting next to you on the sofa. Older British Shorthairs will lose their vigour and can end up as couch potatoes!

Baths are usually not necessary however it is important to make sure your British Shorthair is groomed weekly. As gingivitis is a common issue it is important to ensure dental health is maintained – whether via treats or brushing.
