About The American Wirehair Breed
The American Wirehair is a full blooded American only breed. Unlike the American Shorthair which was brought over from Europe when America was colonised the Wirehair is native to the United States. It was recognised by the Cat Fanciers Association in the 1970’s but was first spotted in 1966.

The American Wirehair is a medium sized cat weighing between 4 and 8 kilograms.

Caring for American Wirehairs
